Ranbir Kapoor's Shamshera has failed to impress the audience. The film, which marks Ranbir's return to cinema after 3 years, has done average business during its first weekend. While the expectations were high, it looks like the audience are not very happy with the action-thriller.

Shamshera embarked on its journey with an opening of Rs 10.25 crore on Day 1. The opening is way lower than what the industry expected out of it. While the film was expected to take off during the weekend

it looks like the collection remained low despite good word of mouth. In 3 days, Ranbir's film has managed to earn a mere Rs 31.75 crore. On Sunday, the film earned Rs 11 crore.

The storyline of Shamshera follows Ranbir Kapoor's character being pitted against Sanjay Dutt. The latter plays the role of an evil, merciless and cold-hearted man named Shuddh Singh

The film is set in the 1800 fictitious city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian general Shuddh Singh.

The story focusses on a slave who becomes a leader and then a legend for his tribe. He relentlessly fights for his tribe's freedom and dignity. Shamshera also stars Ronit Roy, Saurabh Shukla and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.
